A look back at the TUDOR Nazaré Big Wave Challenge 2025 and the fine performance of our French athletes (Cocorico!). February 8, 2025 saw the 4ᵉ edition of the famous TUDOR Nazaré Big Wave Challenge. This XXL competition, organized every year on the mythical Portuguese spot of Praia do Norte in Nazaré, this year offered solid waves between 7 and 10 meters. Here's a look back at this highly emotional event, in which our French surfers clearly put on a great show!
🏄♂️ Men's performance: Clément Roseyro at the top

Laurent Masurel/World Surf League
Clément Roseyro was red hot this year! A quick look back at his best waves: with two bombs rated 7.50 and 6.83, he flew through the competition. In the final, he didn't waver against international heavyweights such as Brazil's Lucas Chianca and Scotland's Ben Larg. Roseyro was clearly in his zone, perfectly positioned, with a technique and mind of steel. The result: he won the competition like a boss. Here are the full standings and other highlights on the men's side.
🏄♀️ Women's performance: Justine Dupont queen of Nazaré

WSL / Manuel Gaeda / Laurent Masurel / Damien Poullenot
Justine Dupont made a winning comeback after her maternity break, and frankly, she hasn't lost an ounce of talent. She tamed the Portuguese monsters with impressive ease. Her wave choices made all the difference, with super-efficient strategy and perfect timing. In two-three waves, Justine put everyone in agreement and clearly showed that she remains the boss among the women. Here we look back at her key waves and the final women's rankings.
🤝 Team category: victory for the Roseyro-Von Rupp duo

Manel Gaeda/World Surf League
For those new to team competition at Nazaré, it's simple: each team is made up of two surfers who combine their best waves to score the maximum. This year, Clément Roseyro (him again!) teamed up with Portuguese local Nic Von Rupp to form an ultra-solid duo. Thanks to their obvious complicity, they made the most of Nazaré's waves. Their strategy was clearly to attack! And it paid off, as they won the event hands down. Here's the final podium and the other teams who made their mark on the competition.
🤙 Unusual fact: Kai Lenny forgets his boards!

Laurent Masurel/World Surf League
An incredible anecdote about this 2025 edition: Kai Lenny, one of the world's best big-wave surfers, completely forgot his boards at the airport! The result? He had to borrow an old local board, not at all suited to the XXL conditions. Despite this major handicap, Kai still managed some impressive waves. Clearly not his best result, but a great souvenir for both him and the spectators!
